Sargai is a community-based grassland conservation manager at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in China, leading grassland conservation efforts in Inner Mongolia. With deep roots in a Mongolian pastoralist family, she brings together traditional ecological knowledge and modern science to support sustainable, climate-positive grazing practices in collaboration with local herding communities. Committed to empowering future generations, Sargai also organizes a monthly workshop that raises awareness among women and engages young people—especially herder descendants—to help preserve the rich cultural and ecological heritage of their communities. Sargai holds a BSc in Grassland Science from Inner Mongolia Agricultural University and an MSc in Applied Ecology and Conservation from the University of East Anglia in the UK.
