Overview
The Women in Ranching Book Club was started as a way to connect with one another and explore new perspectives —using books as a vehicle to spark conversation.
These gatherings are informally guided by a WIR facilitator who will lead discussions related to the chosen literature.
Whether you have read the entire book, are into chapter one, can make it to two meetings or all four, we welcome you! This offering is free to participants.

Brave The Wild River: The Untold Story of Two Women Who Mapped the Botany of the Grand Canyon
By Melissa L. Sevigny
In 1938, two young botanists, Elzada Clover and Lois Jotter, defied convention by joining a river expedition through the Grand Canyon to catalog its plants. Their scientific journey was also an adventure against fierce rapids, social expectations, and physical hardship. Sevigny brings their story to life with historical detail, vivid landscapes, and admiration for their courage. The book is a celebration of women’s resilience, science, and discovery in a world that often underestimated them.
